Do you want to be happy? Human beings cannot live only the material/rational life, without paying attention to their souls. Jung said that he had not seen a person, living the second part of life, solve his/her existential dilemmas without a connection to the divine.
Decline of Christian churches
The centuries have eroded the luminosity of the Christian symbols. The Christian dogmas that dominated Western civilization for so many years cannot satisfy many persons living in the twenty first century. Since the Renascence, with the growth of rationalism, the Christian church has been losing its command over modern man’s life. To many persons the traditional religions are empty and do not lead to a real emotional connection to the divine. The symbols of Christianity are weakening, and, as Jung said, once the gods have left the temples, they never return.
