Spiritual healing: can you believe in the unbelievable?

Spiritual Healing – Can you believe in the unbelievable?

The Amazon Shaman

The Amazon Shaman

Through the first half of my life, I was absolutely rational; I would never believe in spiritual healing, After all, the professional magicians perform feats that we cannot explain, but are not supernatural.I would not believe in anycase that could not be explained by science and rational thought. Some paranormal phenomena that happen commonly in Brazil, a country where the European civilization mixed with the African and the native Indians, I would consider simply as magic.

Mind control

Well, when I was 35, I attended a course of mind control and came out a different person. There are some phenomena that science cannot explain. I will tell you one of the many strange things that I know of.

A spiritual healing

A friend of mine had a terrible backache. The doctors prescribed spine surgery, which did not resolve the issue. In fact, the pain worsened after the intervention, to the point that he had to sleep on the floor, because even a hard cushion was unbearable.

While vacationing in the Amazon region, my friend’s guide suggested he should consult with a local healer, a “curandera”. My friend, a catholic, did not believe in such arts, but the guide insisted, telling him of the “miracles” this old lady had performed.

My friend went along, due to his curiosity. They arrived in a very poor area of a small town, where the healer lived in a shackle. After she had  performed some rites, she kissed my friend´s spine in the area that hurt the most, taking out of her mouth a small piece of bone that she claimed to have extracted from the spine.

Do you believe that this bone was extracted from my friend´s spine? I don´t. She may have put the bone in her mouse or materialized it. It is well documented that an Indian guru, Sai Baba, materialized objects out of thin air, but I think, in this case, that the bone was a gimmick to impress the patient. However, my friend came out of that shackle completely cured, and had no back problems from then on. That cannot be denied.

Brazil is a mystical country, and I know of several other “miracles” performed all over the country. India is a land with the most advanced spiritual gurus, but they generally do not get involved in curing people. Believing in many lives, the Indians don´t consider death to be important. The Philippines is possibly the only country to match Brazil on this matter. Maybe Africa.

Shamanism, probably the oldest spiritual practice can produce healing and other phenomena that science cannot explain.

Several “fantastic” cures have been documented all over Brazil. I am a PhD from Stanford University, an ex-rational person. I do believe that some specially gifted persons and shamans can perform miraculous cures. I made an extended research on Shamanism to gather material for writing my novel, a psychological thriller, The Amazon Shaman – www.amazon.com/author/rlimanetto — and found “unbelievable” documented cases of shamanic cures.

What about you? Can you believe in the unbelievable?

A cura espiritual

I was involved in the business world, as an executive of large companies and university professor since recently. I was the president CSN, the largest steel-mill of Latin America and was responsible for its turn-around. My first encounter with the teachings of the Swiss psychologist C. G. Jung, one of the greatest geniuses of the 20th Century, was during my midlife crisis. Reading "Man and his Symbols" at that time, inspired me to go into Jungian analysis and to begin devouring the writings of Jung and his disciples. Since then, I've been studying psychology, especially Jungian psychology and, after reaching my seventies, I decided to become a full time writer, specializing on books on Jungian psychology and psychological thrillers. Every masterpiece of literature can be absorbed through multiple interpretations, and yield powerful insights for our daily lives. My first Jungian book, “The Little Prince for Grown-ups“, in its fourth edition in Brazil, was based on the famous book of Saint-Exupéry. The second, - “The Jungian Bible” - interprets some stories of the Old Testament and world myths. As I get older and, with a bit of luck, wiser, I want to pass on to the younger generations the lessons life has taught me. Jesus Christ taught that it was easier to sell ideas with stories. Following the Master, I published in English "The Amazon Shaman" and "In Search of Happiness", two psychological thrillers around the theme of happiness.
